I enjoy taking pictures and then manipulating the photo in the computer. Then I use my sewing machine to thread draw aspects of the picture. I quilted the back ground sky and used acrylic paint to texture the threads. I then hand-stitch the foliage to give depth and realism.
I took a picture of pumpkins in a farm house in Pennsylvania last fall on a road trip. It is wonderful to come across this treasures on trips. They make for fun art!
I am excited about getting into the Van Gogh Challenge Dutch Gallery! Below are some of the places my quilt will be going to.
So far 2016 has been an exciting new year.
It began with “Nature’s Orchestra” (above) winning first prize in the Cary Art Center’s Instructor’s Exhibit: “Synesthesia – Connecting the Senses.”
“Pink and Lavender” Received an Honorable Mention from the Fine Art League of Cary 20th Annual Juried Art Exhibition 2015.
